Taiwan Taoyuan Airport sees surge in outbound travel during Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays; transport measures launched to boost clearance efficiency

This year, the Mid-Autumn Festival and the four-day National Day holiday are close together, prompting many people to travel abroad during the break. From September 30 to October 12 — a total of 13 days — Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport has launched transport measures for the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays. A total of 285 extra flights have been scheduled, with 75% concentrated at Terminal 1. October 7 will see the highest number of additional flights, with 37, adding around 7,400 passengers on that single day, bringing the total close to 129,000. The airport urges travelers to make use of self-service check-in, automated immigration, and the city check-in and self-service baggage drop systems at the Airport MRT’s A1 Station to improve clearance efficiency.

With the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays approaching, Taoyuan Airport is experiencing a surge in outbound travel. Therefore, from September 30 to October 12 — a total of 13 days — transport measures have been launched. There will be 285 extra flights, 75% of which are concentrated at Terminal 1, with the highest number — 37 flights — on October 7. Additionally, on October 4, 5, 6, and 8, there will be between 28 to 29 extra flights each day, adding approximately 5,600 to 5,800 passengers per day.

During the holiday travel period, with high outbound passenger volumes, Taoyuan Airport recommends that travelers use self-service check-in, automated immigration, as well as the city check-in and self-service baggage drop systems at the Airport MRT’s A1 Station to speed up the clearance process.

Also, regarding security screening, passengers are reminded not to carry any dangerous items. Avoid placing spare lithium batteries and lighters in checked luggage. Before going through metal detectors, please remove belts, hats, and any metal items from your person, and take tablets and laptops out of your carry-on bags to place them, along with other carry-on items, into the X-ray inspection machine.

As for liquids, gels, and sprays in carry-on or personal hand luggage, containers must not exceed 100 milliliters and must be placed in a single transparent resealable plastic bag no larger than 1 liter (20×20 cm). When placing all containers in the plastic bag, the bag must be fully sealed, and each passenger is allowed only one such transparent plastic bag. Items not meeting these requirements should be placed in checked luggage. Before entering the security control area, there are hazardous item disposal bins where liquids over 100 milliliters can be poured out.

Taoyuan Airport also reminds passengers that the yellow curb zones in the terminal arrival and departure halls are for temporary parking only, to allow passengers to get on and off vehicles. Unauthorized occupation of the curbs will be referred to the Aviation Police Bureau for enforcement via surveillance footage and license plate recognition, with fines ranging from NT$600 to NT$1,200. Passengers are encouraged to use the 30-minute free parking offered at airport parking lots for pick-up and drop-off.
