The world’s first “Brown & Friends Colorful Rice Field” debuts in Pingtung – Get a number ticket first to see the full view

The world’s first LINE FRIENDS cartoon character colorful rice field officially made its debut at the Pingtung International Colorful Rice Art Festival on March 28, meeting the public nationwide. The adorable Brown is pulling a train with Usagi, Sally, and James seated on it, appearing amidst a sea of rice waves, as if joyfully racing across the Pingtung Plain. This super cute design has melted everyone’s hearts.

Even before the official opening, the LINE FRIENDS cartoon character colorful rice field had already been exposed online, causing the Pingtung International Colorful Rice Art Festival to become a major hit even before it began. Some people from as far as Taipei specifically drove to the area the night before and even spent the night in their cars just to be among the first; there were also independent travelers from mainland China who learned about the event on Facebook and made a special trip down from Taipei at 2 a.m. just to witness the LINE colorful rice field with their own eyes.

At the opening ceremony, Pingtung County Magistrate Pan Men-an expressed gratitude to LINE for granting character licensing and providing design drafts, allowing the Pingtung County Government to integrate cultural creativity, tourism, and technology elements into traditional agriculture, bringing a fresh new look to the agricultural scene. To showcase rice culture, Magistrate Pan also pounded mochi together with guests. He shared heartfelt words afterward and then joined the guests on the rice viewing platform. A drone took off to capture this historic moment, witnessing the takeoff of Pingtung’s agriculture.

The organizers have also specially set up a9-meter-tall observation tower at the venue, enabling visitors to take in the full view of the expansive 1-hectare colorful rice field. However, considering the tower’s capacity and safety,visitor numbers will be subject to overall control, with one group of 100 people allowed on every 15 minutes for a total of 100 people per session. Each group can enjoy the view for 10 minutes. The platform is open for 8 hours on weekdays and 9 hours on holidays, allowing up to 3,200 visitors per day. The public must queue according to the schedule to receive a number ticket for the colorful rice field viewing tower.

The Colorful Rice Art Festival runs from March 28 to May 10. In addition to the eye-catching colorful rice field, the other side also features the “Happy Life in the Rice Wave Maze,” ten themed landscape areas, and an irrigation culture experience zone. During the festival, there will also be four sessions of nighttime stargazing astronomy activities, allowing the public to experience a starry sky different from that of the daytime.
