The 2015 Yilan Green Expo officially opened on the 28th, with the opening ceremony held at the Shuimu Stage in the Welcome Waterfront Area. Yilan County Magistrate Lin Congxian, along with attending guests, jointly turned a robot transformed from a blower to encourage the public to embrace a new, eco-friendly mindset. The Green Expo invites people from all over Taiwan to come and witness the green miracle of Yilan together.

This year’s Yilan Green Expo runs from March 28 to May 17, spanning 51 days. With the theme “Green Miracle – The New Generation of Agriculture,” the expo features 5 major exhibition areas, including one that showcases the hydrology and lifestyle of the Lanyang Plain through its abundant water resources.Welcome WaterfrontOne that unveils the mysterious side of marine island ecological conservation –Ocean ForestOne where you can experience the pure flavors of the indigenous Atayal tribe –Cloudy Sky PrairieOne that presents the new rural style of the Lanyang Plain –Serene SettlementAnd one that leads visitors through real farming life in a natural setting using traditional, nature-respecting agricultural practices –Forest & Farming Secret Realm.

Magistrate Lin also announced the first discount after the expo’s opening: on Children’s Day, April 4, all children under 12 can enter for free; residents of Yilan County can enjoy an overall 20% discount on admission.

Lin stated that the Green Expo is the perfect activity to enjoy spring. In the most natural Wulikeng area, people can experience a level of leisure and comfort not found in the city, allowing both body and mind to relax. He also invited elementary and middle school students from across the country to visit the Green Expo during their spring outings to participate in specially designed environmental education programs.
