Spring has arrived, and it’s the season when all flowers are in full bloom. At the Yangmingshan Flower Trial Center, various blossoms are competing in a riot of colors. In addition to wisteria and azaleas, starting from the 30th, the park is launching a special exhibition of bulb flowers. Hidden treasures such as clivia, lilies, amaryllis, and red bird-of-paradise orchids are showcasing their unique blooms, leaving every visitor who comes to admire the flowers in awe.
Plants such as clivia, lilies, and amaryllis are characterized by particularly swollen rootstocks, which are the parts where the plants store nutrients. They only sprout, grow, and bloom under the right conditions. For example, clivia, which belongs to the Amaryllidaceae family and the Clivia genus, is now at its peak flowering period. Its dark green leaves give off a vibrant energy, and when paired with its bright orange flowers that create a strong contrast, its uniqueness stands out even more against the soft pastel colors of spring.

Ms. Chen, who often visits the Flower Trial Center, said: “Every time I come to the flower center, I feel especially happy. There are special plants or little flowers blooming around every corner. While walking in the park, you can often smell the pleasant fragrance of flowers. Spring is especially beautiful and perfect for outings in nature.”
Now the Flower Trial Center is in the midst of a full bloom season, with flowers like michelia, iris, and evening-scented stock all ready to burst into bloom. Since there is no parking space around the location, the Taipei City Parks Department urges everyone to use public transportation to come up the mountain to admire the flowers (Take bus 260, 303, Red 5, or Royal Bus Jinshan Line to Shanzihou Police Station stop, walk about 3 minutes to reach the Flower Trial Center next to the gas station).
