The Kaohsiung City Government Tourism Bureau sees strong growth potential in the Korean tourist market and has designated Korea as a key development market this year. Through film and TV marketing and drama co-productions—including product placements in the Korean drama "Queen's Flower" and the food show "In Search of Delicious TV"—the bureau promotes Kaohsiung’s tourist attractions to help more Koreans learn about Taiwan’s Kaohsiung.
The tourism bureau also assisted the Korean broadcaster MBC with filming its weekend drama "Queen's Flower" in Kaohsiung. The first three episodes of the drama were primarily shot against the backdrop of southern Taiwan and premiered in Korea on the 14th of this month, achieving extremely high ratings. In addition, riding on the success of "Queen's Flower," MBC’s food program "In Search of Delicious TV" also came to Kaohsiung in mid-March to film, showcasing local delicacies such as Gangyuan Beef Noodles, Guo Family Zongzi, New Taiwan Original Flavor, Qijin Seafood, and Qishan Banana Cake.
The number of Korean tourists visiting and staying in Kaohsiung has been growing year by year. Currently, three airlines—China Airlines, EVA Air, and Air Busan—operate flights on the Seoul and Busan routes, with a total of 19 weekly flights between Kaohsiung and Korea. The tourism bureau also plans to hold a Kaohsiung tourism promotion event in Korea in mid-June to promote the "Queen's Flower" scenic tour package and drive a wave of Korean tourist interest in visiting Kaohsiung, Taiwan.
