Tokyo is getting closer！ Peach Aviation’s first flight on the Taipei-Taoyuan to Haneda route in August

With the opening of the skies between Taiwan and Japan, flights between the two regions have become increasingly frequent, with more destinations being added. According to a report by the Nikkei Asia today (April 9), Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism has officially approved Peach Aviation’s application, and the airline is expected to launch the Taipei-Taoyuan to Haneda route this August.

Currently, most low-cost carriers operate primarily out of Narita Airport, with only Hong Kong Express offering flights to Haneda. Therefore, once Peach Aviation begins service, it will become the first Japanese low-cost carrier at Haneda Airport. The new route is expected to operate seven flights per week using an A320 aircraft with 180 seats. Flights are scheduled to depart Taiwan at midnight and return from Haneda at 5 a.m., with ticket prices around one-third of those of traditional airlines.

Haneda Airport currently has available slots during late-night hours, and Peach Aviation aims to enhance its brand visibility and usage rates, which led to the launch of this new route. For independent travelers, Haneda Airport is approximately 20 kilometers from Tokyo Station, reachable via public transport in about 35 minutes, whereas Narita Airport is about 60 kilometers away, taking nearly an hour to reach the station. This new option also reduces travel time and hassle for passengers.
