Dashan Gushan Park in Kaohsiung’s Qishan District, a century-old landmark, reopened on the 12th after completing its renovation. Mayor Chen Chu personally unveiled the park’s new look to mark its rebirth. She said that Qishan boasts beautiful scenery and rich historical, cultural, and tourism resources, and that the city government will continue to invigorate local development and tourism, accelerate regional flood control efforts, and enhance the charm of this century-old banana-growing town.

Covering an area of 31 hectares, Gushan Park features a beautiful environment and lush woodlands, making it a century-old scenic spot in Qishan. Due to aging and neglect, the park had become overgrown and disorganized. The city government invested NT$95 million in a three-phase renovation plan, and after three years of work, the overall reconstruction project has been completed.

Gushan Park preserves many precious relics, but years of neglect and damage had dulled its appeal. The city government launched a three-year renovation project that not only repaired internal facilities but also enhanced landscaping, planting around 90,000 flowers including bougainvillea, hibiscus, and firecracker vines, creating a vibrant and flowery landscape where visitors can stroll leisurely and enjoy the outdoors.
