Shanghai to Build a "Disney Metro Line" with Trains Departing as Frequently as Every 90 Seconds

Shanghai Disneyland is set to open in spring 2016, and currently, Shanghai is constructing the "Shanghai Disney Metro Line" to transport the large influx of visitors.

According to mainland media reports, the "Shanghai Disney Metro Line" will connect with Shanghai Metro Line 11, serving as an extension of Line 11. The entire line is approximately 9.15 kilometers long, starting from Luoshan Road Station, passing through Xiuyan Road Station and Kangxin Highway Station, and finally arriving at Disney Resort Station.

The Shanghai Disney Metro Line will use the same Type A six-car trains as Line 11, with each car capable of carrying 310 passengers—meaning each train can accommodate 1,860 people. Additionally, the line will adopt the world’s most advanced CBTC signaling system, making metro operations more flexible. The shortest possible headway between trains will be just 90 seconds, playing a crucial role in quickly moving large crowds of travelers in a short time.
