The Guam International Marathon concludes; Taiwan sends a record 39 participants

The “2015 Guam International Marathon” has recently concluded successfully. As the third edition and the largest marathon event in Guam’s history, it attracted over 3,000 enthusiastic runners from Guam, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, and other regions. This year, a record-high 39 Taiwanese athletes registered to compete.

A total of 3,240 athletes registered for this year’s event, including 576 for the full marathon, 785 for the half marathon, 798 for the 10-kilometer race, and 1,085 for the 5-kilometer race. The men’s full marathon champion was Japanese runner Inose Yusuke with a time of 2 hours, 41 minutes, and 22 seconds, while South Korean runner Sung Hua Ryu claimed the women’s title with a time of 3 hours, 8 minutes, and 42 seconds.

Travel expert Wen Shikai noted that the Guam Marathon feels like a joyful carnival, featuring a fire dance performance before the start and a beachside finish party at the end, making it a lively event. Guam Visitors Bureau Director Nason DeNiese stated that the international marathon is a significant milestone in successfully implementing the 2020 Tourism Plan developed by the Guam Visitors Bureau.
