Stars shine bright on the ground！Xinshe’s “Firefly-Watching Day Tour” kicks off on the 18th

April and May each year are the best seasons to watch fireflies in the Choutengkeng Leisure Agriculture Area. With its low light pollution and unpolluted, high-quality ecological environment, the area sees fireflies flitting through the mountains and forests at night, their glowing lights twinkling alongside the stars. In collaboration with travel agencies, the Xinshe District Farmers’ Association in Taichung has launched the “2015 Peach and Plum City Firefly Fun,” combining firefly watching with activities such as peach picking. The event runs from April 18 to May 10.

Located in Xinshe, the Choutengkeng Leisure Agriculture Area boasts rich natural landscapes. The ecology within the park has always maintained a natural and simple primitive appearance, creating the optimal environment for nurturing fireflies. April and May each year are the best times to watch them.

Luo Wen-zheng, general manager of the Xinshe District Farmers’ Association, pointed out that the 2015 firefly-watching event runs from April 18 to May 10. The itinerary is arranged in cooperation with travel agencies, with one-day agricultural experience tours scheduled every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday during the event period. Activities include strolling along painted trails, visiting the Bailing Weir Memorial Park, picking peaches, and tasting sweet persimmon sorbet. Nighttime firefly viewing is led by guides on special vehicles to secret firefly-watching spots, accompanied by interpretation, and includes agricultural experience activities. Dinner is arranged at a featured scenic restaurant.
