A Tapestry of Fireflies and Starlight: 48 Hidden Firefly-Watching Spots in New Taipei City Revealed!

Soft glows are appearing across Taiwan—it’s firefly season now. While the well-known firefly-watching spots remain crowded, new hidden gems have also emerged. In 2015, the Agriculture Bureau specially compiled a list of 48 firefly-watching spots across New Taipei City’s 14 districts, allowing visitors to avoid overcrowded areas and choose convenient locations to experience the romance and freedom of “swatting at fireflies with a light silk fan.”

Tucheng District
1. Tonghua Park and Surrounding Firefly Trails (End of Chengtian Road, Tucheng District)
2. Shibi Liao Stream Trail (Opposite Nantianmu Plaza, Tucheng District)

Sanxia District
1. Kite Mountain Firefly Path
2. Youmu Elementary School (For firefly activities, please contact Youmu Elementary School)
3. Jian’an Elementary School (Ankeng North No. 104 Township Road and Shizitou Road)
4. Qiwu Barbecue Area by the Mountains and Water, Lion Head Five-Fork Intersection (Firefly activities require group registration, including guided tour, dinner, and insurance. Please call Ankeng Li Office at 26726003)
