Taipei’s “Free Firefly-Watching Tour at Zhinan Creek” Is a Huge Hit—An Additional Session Added on April 26

To coincide with the arrival of firefly-watching season, Taipei’s Department of Urban Development recently opened registration for the free “Firefly Ecology Tour” on April 25. All slots were snapped up on the first day of registration, prompting the department to add an extra session on April 26.

The area around Zhinan Creek boasts a natural, pristine forest environment with crystal-clear water—perfect habitats for fireflies. As summer approaches, the hills come alive with the glow of fireflies. Coupled with the sounds of frogs croaking and owls hooting in the light-pollution-free woodland, it creates one of the most beautiful nighttime scenes along Zhinan Creek.

The Taipei Department of Urban Development stated that to show appreciation for the public’s enthusiasm, an additional free firefly-watching tour will be held on April 26.
