The annual Gold Coast Airport Marathon is here again this year. The marathon will kick off on the first weekend of July. As an event certified with the IAAF Gold Label Road Race, it attracts international running enthusiasts from around the world every year. According to official statistics, about 400 Taiwanese participated last year, and this year the founder of the street run event Hu Jie and celebrity George Ou will also take part in the full marathon.
The Gold Coast Marathon has long been known for its flat course, stunning scenery, mild climate, and a festive and relaxed atmosphere. It is also one of the largest marathon events in the world, ranking alongside the New York Marathon, Tokyo Marathon, and Berlin Marathon. This year’s races will be held on July 4 (Saturday) and July 5 (Sunday), with events including a full marathon (42 km), half marathon (21 km), wheelchair marathon (15 km), 10 km road race, 5.7 km challenge, as well as short races of 4 km and 2 km specially designed for children and teenagers.

The Gold Coast is Australia’s premier holiday destination. Even though July is winter in the Southern Hemisphere, temperatures on the Gold Coast remain around 10-20 degrees Celsius—cool and pleasant, making it very suitable for jogging. On race day, wearing short sleeves and shorts is fine, but temperatures can be a bit cooler in the early morning and evening, so it’s recommended to bring a jacket. There is abundant sunshine locally, so remember to apply sunscreen before you start. Early bird registration is available for those who sign up before April 30 (local time 23:59 in Gold Coast, 21:59 in Taiwan), and the general registration deadline is July 3 (local time 20:00 in Gold Coast, 18:00 in Taiwan).
