The search rankings during Golden Week revealed that cities in both northern and southern Taiwan are especially favored by Japanese visitors, including Taipei, New Taipei City, Kaohsiung, and Tainan. Most of these destinations have direct flights from Japan and are connected by high-speed rail, making it easy for Japanese travelers to journey from north to south, while also having more time to immerse themselves in Taiwanese culture.
Among the top activities Japanese travelers wish to do, soaking in hot springs took the top spot — as many as 51% of respondents said they most look forward to a relaxing soak in steaming hot springs during their Golden Week holiday. Closely following was enjoying local food, with 44.1% of travelers expressing interest in trying regional snacks or specialties. In third place was visiting local landmarks or joining city tours (36%), aiming to gain a deeper understanding of the area's culture and scenery. Shopping (16.8%) and visiting amusement parks (13%) were also popular, offering highly attractive vacation options for families and younger travelers alike.
