Wearing boots to pick pineapples in the fields of Iriomote Island and making desserts on the grassland—super vacation vibes

▲ RISONARE Iriomote Island Resort has introduced a new experience activity where visitors can pick fresh pineapples from local farmers' fields and enjoy them right after harvest.

In addition to its beautiful seascapes and mangroves, the pineapples of Iriomote Island are also one of the region’s most famous agricultural products, beloved by people from mainland Japan. RISONARE Iriomote Island Resort, operated by Hoshino Resorts, first launched a pineapple-picking experience activity in 2015. Guests staying at the resort can join the activity by registering in advance, and even turn freshly harvested pineapples into delicious crème brûlée pineapple tarts, enjoying afternoon tea on the grassland with a cool breeze.

RISONARE Iriomote Island Resort has collaborated with local farmers to offer an activity where visitors can enter pineapple fields to pick fresh pineapples and make pineapple tarts on the spot. The pineapples of Iriomote differ significantly from those in Taiwan—they are known locally as “peach pineapples.” Their flesh is lighter in color than that of Taiwanese pineapples but offers a sweet and tangy taste. When you bite into them, they release juice instantly, and their sweet-and-sour flavor leaves a lasting impression.

▲ After harvesting the pineapples, staff will help visitors cut them open and prepare simple dishes using the sliced pineapples.

▲ During the pineapple-picking activity, staff will teach visitors how to make rich and delicious crème brûlée pineapple tarts. The photo shows pineapple slices coated in sugar powder and baked until slightly caramelized.
