Free Firefly-Watching Tour in Zhuzihhu, Yangmingshan – Step into a “Firefly Dreamland”

Where else in Taipei can you find traces of fireflies? Besides being in the midst of the calla lily season, Zhuzihhu in Yangmingshan also offers the beautiful sight of tiny green lights dancing through the mountain forests. On the 9th, the Taipei City Bureau of Urban Development specially organized a “Free Firefly-Watching Tour in Zhuzihhu” to help the public learn more about the diverse streamside ecosystems while promoting the concept of ecological conservation.

The Taipei City Bureau of Urban Development stated that the number of fireflies hidden within Taipei’s natural ecosystems is actually no less than those found in the mountainous regions of central and southern Taiwan, meaning the public doesn’t have to travel far. On the evening of May 6th from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM, the bureau will lead participants to Yangming Stream in Zhuzihhu, Yangmingshan, where they can stroll through the night-time calla lily fields and admire the enchanting sight of fireflies fluttering like fairies among the flowers.

Registration for the “Free Firefly-Watching Tour in Zhuzihhu” is open from 10:00 AM on 5/4 (Monday) to 5:00 PM on 5/5 (Tuesday), viaonline registration(← click here for the link), with a limit of 120 registrants, from which 40 lucky participants will be selected. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.
