The 28th Micronesia Islands Festival to Kick Off in Guam on May 15

The 28th Guam Micronesia Island Fair will be held from May 15 to 17. As Guam will host the 12th Pacific Arts Festival — known as the “Pacific Olympics of the Arts” — in 2016 (May 22–June 4), this year’s event has gained significant attention and is considered a prelude to the 2016 festival.

This year’s theme for the Guam Micronesia Island Fair is “Through Time – Sailing Towards the Pacific Arts Festival.” Nearby islands will once again gather in Guam to share legends, artworks, and the living cultures of the Micronesian region. Nison Duenas, Director of the Guam Visitors Bureau, said that during the event, a diverse range of indigenous Pacific cultures and arts will be showcased, serving as a warm-up for the exciting presentations at next year’s Pacific Arts Festival. Visitors can experience the history and culture of Guam, Rota, Tinian, Saipan, the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of Kiribati, Nauru, the Marshall Islands, and Palau.
