First look at the Miffy-themed café: super kawaii character cakes

The Miffy-themed café "miffy×2% café" located in New Taipei City’s Zhonghe Uni-President Department Store is set to begin trial operations on May 17. ETtoday EBC brings you an exclusive sneak peek at the venue’s interior design and menu. In addition to three adorable life-size Miffy plush toys greeting visitors at the entrance, the café is filled with Miffy imagery — from walls and tables to cups and even napkins. Café manager Liu Yaxi also revealed that the three Miffy figures at the entrance are just stand-ins; two larger Miffy statues will take their place when the café officially opens on June 21.

It turns out that June 21 marks Miffy’s 60th birthday, which is why miffy×2% café has chosen this date for its grand opening. The trial period runs from May 17 to June 20. Liu Yaxi explained that all Miffy-related designs in the café must be approved by the original Dutch creators — from the overall floor plan down to the cups, napkins, and even coffee stirrers. Importantly, the original Miffy illustrations cannot be altered. Throughout miffy×2% café, Miffy’s presence is seen everywhere, especially on tables and napkins where just two simple “dots” and an “X” transform them into little Miffys.

The miffy×2% café offers a diverse menu, including a variety of coffee drinks, herbal teas, blended teas, ice cream fruit parfaits, fresh juices, and slushies. The ice cream fruit parfaits are particularly unique, combining ice cream, fruit, and crispy toppings for a layered flavor experience.

For food, the café serves freshly made pancakes topped with ice cream and various fruits and ingredients, priced between NT$100 and NT$180. Liu Yaxi added that there are also single-serve small cakes priced between NT$70 and NT$100. Of course, Miffy-shaped cakes are a must — the café offers 6-inch and 8-inch versions, but these are for takeout only and require advance reservation. Will there be smaller Miffy cakes available for dining in? Liu Yaxi said they are considering offering 3-inch Miffy cakes in the future.

Liu Yaxi also revealed that miffy×2% café is the first step into the F&B industry by the group (trendy fashion brand 2%), serving as a market test. They are currently preparing to launch a large family-friendly restaurant, hoping to secure a space between 70 and 100 ping. In addition to offering kid-specific meals, the plan is to incorporate DIY fun and 2% fashion elements.

Since June 21 is Miffy’s 60th birthday, miffy×2% café is launching a series of celebration events. Wild Miffy will make surprise appearances around Zhonghe Uni-President Mall. If you spot Miffy, wish her a happy birthday, take a selfie together, and spontaneously tell her what you want to do at miffy×2% café, Miffy might — if she’s happy and impressed — give you a free product voucher. You can then redeem it at the café for a free drink or Miffy merchandise.
