Even if you haven’t had the chance to visit Barcelona in person, you’ve likely seen the crazy and magnificent works of Spanish architectural master Antoni Gaudí on TV or in the media. Structures like Sagrada Família and Park Güell have transcended architecture and art to become treasured human heritage. Gaudí’s privately commissioned residence, the Casa Vicens, has recently opened to the public. Now, when you visit Barcelona, there’s one more place you can go.

According to the UK Daily TelegraphThe highland-designed residence “Casa Vicens” will be unveiled to travelers in November.This building was commissioned by the industrialist Manel Vicens i Montaner, who had inherited a large fortune. To showcase his social status and wealth, he asked Gaudí to design a private residence that reflected the style of the times. The Casa Batlló reflects a blend of European classicism and Islamic styles, representing a form of Neo-Mudéjar architecture.

“Text House” was built approximately between 1883 and 1889. The interior is filled with elements commonly used by Gaudí, and there is a large amount of tile and glass used throughout.The original owner, Vicens, passed away not long after the Casa Vicens was completed. It was later owned by an Cuban surgeon, Antonio Jover.After renovation, the Textsen House officially opened on November 16, allowing visitors to see the design created by the master for his private residence.
