Container style is all the rage now — Germany’s first ultra-stylish converted container hotel is even cooler than a five-star resort

Sleep with fish in an underwater hotel, stay in a treehouse hidden in the jungle, or gaze at the aurora from a transparent pod. These days, if you can afford it, there’s no shortage of quirky accommodations. Now, Germany has introduced container lodgings — take a closer look at the interior design and furnishings, and you might find them more characterful than a five-star hotel.

According to Lonely Planet,located in the northern German summer resort of Warnemünde, there is Germany’s first container hotel. This 64-room accommodation can house up to 188 guests in individual 25-square-meter containers. Some containers are designed like youth hostels, featuring four- and eight-bed setups.

Warnemünde is a bustling port town, and the container hotel enjoys a prime location — just a 12-minute walk to the beach, with harbor views right from the guestroom balconies. The interior follows an industrial theme, with exposed cement-brick walls and deliberately visible piping that creates a bold vibe. There are 42 rooms in total, including two suites, 15 four-person rooms, and 5 eight-person rooms. Everything you need is included.

One particularly unique feature is the shared space, which includes a cinema that guests can freely use, as well as table football and other games. Additionally, the containers are powered by solar energy. The nightly rate is around €19 (approximately NT$600).
