The Tourism Police Headquarters of Thailand issues a statement regarding the shooting incident at Siam Paragon Mall

On October 6, Major General Apichai, the acting commissioner of the Tourist Police Bureau, issued a statement as the spokesperson for the Tourist Police Headquarters regarding the shooting incident at Siam Paragon Mall.The statement said:

First, on behalf of the Tourism Police Bureau, I would like to express condolences to the victims of the unfortunate incident that occurred on October 3, 2023, and extend sympathy to the injured.At the same time, all citizens of our country also feel deeply saddened by this incident.Currently, His Majesty the King has instructed royal protection measures and has admitted all injured individuals for treatment, regardless of nationality. Both Thai citizens and foreigners are receiving appropriate medical care.Since the incident occurred, the prime minister and all government agencies have been paying close attention, visiting and closely monitoring the patients' conditions.

Regarding this incident, the Royal Thai Police, Tourist Police Division, and all relevant government agencies demonstrated teamwork and efficiency, quickly resolving the matter. The perpetrator was arrested on the spot and will face serious legal consequences.

During the incident, we also provided detailed progress reports to the foreign governments’ representative offices in Thailand.We will deeply learn from the lessons of this incident, strengthen the implementation of preventive measures, and ensure that such incidents do not occur again in the future.
