Yunnan is a major tourism province, and its abundant natural resources and ethnic minority culture offer numerous travel options for enthusiasts. Because of this, many people also worry about being scammed while traveling, so such news often attracts attention.
According to a post on the WeChat official account “Xishuangbanna Smart Travel” on April 25, the Yunnan Xishuangbanna Prefecture Culture and Tourism Bureau announced that on April 24, in response to an online video claiming “In Xishuangbanna, a tour guide canceled the rest of the itinerary because tourists didn’t buy anything, leaving them to arrange their own hotels and flights,” the bureau’s law enforcement officers immediately organized an investigation. They are currently verifying the involved travel agency and tour guide, and if any violations are found, they will be punished according to laws and regulations.
