Due to the rising number of people infected with COVID-19 in Shanghai, Shanghai Disney Resort announced on the evening of March 20 that in view of the current epidemic prevention and control situation, the resort will be temporarily closed from Monday. The specific resumption time of operations will be further notified.

Shanghai Disney Resort stated on its official website that it will consult relevant departments for guidance and will promptly inform you of the resumption time once it is clear. The resort includes Shanghai Disneyland, Disneytown and Wishing Star Park.

For those who have purchased tickets and booked hotels, Shanghai Disney stated that they can refund or postpone the tickets.

Detailed rules for ticket refunds and changes

About park tickets starting from March 21, 2022

Visitors holding tickets to Shanghai Disneyland on and/or after March 21, 2022 can visit Shanghai Disneyland on any day within the next six months and after Shanghai Disneyland resumes operations (for example, the validity period of tickets for March 21, 2022 will be extended to and including September 21, 2022). When visiting, tourists can present the ID card or original travel document used when purchasing the original park tickets at the park entrance gate in exchange for same-day tickets, without making an appointment in advance (visitor registration is still required to complete the park entry in advance). Visitors holding two-day tickets should go to the Visitor Service Center located outside the main entrance of Shanghai Disneyland with the ID card or original travel document used to purchase the tickets to exchange for same-day tickets.

If for some reason tourists are unable to visit within the next six months, refunds can be issued. Visitors who purchased tickets through the Shanghai Disney Resort official website, App, WeChat official account, Shanghai Disney Resort Reservation Service Center, resort Fliggy official flagship store or JD.com official flagship store can submit a refund application through the Shanghai Disney Resort official App, and the refund will be returned to the original payment account within 45 working days. For tourists who purchased tickets through other official channels, please contact the original ticket purchase channel for a refund, or refer to the guidelines at the end of this notice for consultation.

About other resort products and services

Visitors who have purchased Shanghai Disneyland Disney Exclusive Guide Service, Disney Concierge Service, Park Early Access Pass and other designated day products and services on and/or after March 21, 2022 through the Shanghai Disney Resort official website, App, WeChat official account, Shanghai Disney Resort Reservation Service Center, resort Fliggy official flagship store or JD.com official flagship store will automatically receive a refund from the original purchase channel. Visitors who have purchased products and services on the designated day through other official channels, please contact the original purchase channel to apply for a refund.

The two hotels at Shanghai Disney Resort are currently operating normally, but we understand that some guests may need to change their travel plans. Visitors who have booked a Shanghai Disney Resort hotel on or after March 21, 2022, can contact the original purchase channel for consultation.

Shanghai Disneyland Annual Pass

In order to thank annual pass holders for their understanding and support for the optimization and adjustment of our epidemic prevention and control measures since March 12, we have extended the validity period of annual passes that are still valid on March 13, 2022 (inclusive) by 10 days. The validity period of annual card benefits has also been extended accordingly. The validity period of annual passes that have been renewed but have not yet taken effect on March 13, 2022 will also be extended accordingly. Annual pass holders can check the updated annual pass validity period on the Shanghai Disney Resort official App and the official WeChat Disney Annual Pass applet.

After Shanghai Disneyland is temporarily closed from March 21, 2022, we will continue to adjust the validity period of annual passes depending on the situation, and will communicate with annual pass users in a timely manner.

Faced with the sudden and exponential increase in the number of new coronavirus infections, Shanghai has currently implemented static management across the region, calling on citizens to stay at home as much as possible and not go out. Although the food supply in Shanghai is tight, it said it is still under control.

With the COVID-19 epidemic that has lasted for three years, Disney's Chief Financial Officer McCarthy said that the closure of the Shanghai and Hong Kong parks alone may cause a loss of US$175 million in total revenue in the second quarter - of which the Shanghai park's loss is US$135 million and the Hong Kong park's loss is US$40 million. If the Florida park in the United States is closed for one day, Disney will lose $13 million.

If the epidemic in Shanghai continues, Disney's park and resort business will suffer immeasurable losses.
