Hong Kong and Taiwan share close cultural ties and a common language, so it’s quite understandable why the latter is a popular travel destination for Hong Kong people. But what exactly makes Taiwan so appealing to foreigners (a colloquial term Taiwanese use for non-locals) that they come to visit—or even live here? A Reddit user u/czapcze posted 10 photos listing his “10 reasons for loving life in Taiwan.” Why not take a look and compare how our perspectives match—or differ—from those of foreigners?

All 10 photos shared by u/czapcze were taken in Taiwan, featuring well-known spots such as Mugu Muyu and Shitiping in Hualien County, Hehuanshan in Nantou County, and Jiufen in New Taipei City, showcasing the island’s natural and cultural beauty. His 10 reasons include outdoor adventure, motorcycle travel, countryside, ocean, sunsets, rain, indigenous culture, dating spots, encounters with wildlife, and majestic mountains.
Surprisingly, his post also attracted responses from netizens both in Taiwan and abroad, who shared their own reasons for loving Taiwan—such as camping in the wild, convenience stores, fruit, Kenting, and the warm weather—many accompanied by stunning photos.
