Hong Kong people love seeking value-for-money deals. With Japan in the midst of its autumn foliage season, is there still a place where you can enjoy cherry blossoms that typically bloom in spring? It may sound like a dream, but there is indeed one spot in Japan that can make this wish come true.

In the Ohara area of Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture, located in the eastern part of Nagoya, there is a place called “Chuanjian Four-Season Sakura no Sato” (Chuanjian Four-Season Cherry Blossom Village), famous for its many four-season cherry blossoms. This variety of cherry blossom is quite different from the common ones: the latter only bloom once in spring, while the four-season cherry blossoms flourish in both spring and autumn. When the four-season cherry blossoms bloom in autumn, you can simultaneously admire the beautiful scene of red foliage and cherry blossoms — a vibrant mix of crimson and pink-white hues.

It is understood that the four-season cherry blossoms in the Ohara area are a hybrid of the wild cherry varieties “Prunus incisa (Kojo-no-mai)” and “Prunus pendula (Edohigan),” introduced by a doctor named Fujimoto GenShaku. The flowers come in white and pink, with blooming periods approximately from mid-March to early April, and late October to early December. Typically, the autumn blooms are more profuse than those in spring, and because they coincide with the appearance of the red leaves, it allows people to witness the stunning sight of cherry blossoms and autumn foliage competing in beauty.
