The Infinite Train has left the big screen and is now blowing its whistle right before everyone’s eyes. To commemorate the release of the "Demon Slayer: Mugen Train" movie, Japan's JR Kyushu collaborated with "Demon Slayer" to specially operate five runs of the 〈SL Demon Slayer Mugen Train〉 between Kumamoto Station in Kumamoto Prefecture and Hakata Station in Fukuoka Prefecture. The first run debuted on November 1st, attracting hundreds of fans who flooded the station to take photos, creating an incredibly lively scene.

The 〈Mugen Train〉 is actually a refurbished version of the popular steam sightseeing train SL Hitoyoshi, which was completed in 1922. The locomotive’s front is specially adorned with an “Infinity” license plate, becoming a major highlight for fans. Inside the carriages, iconic patterns of "Demon Slayer" characters can be seen everywhere—for example, the seat cushions feature designs from Nezuko and Shinobu Kocho’s clothes, while the aisle curtains display Zenitsu’s outfit patterns.

The train is pulled by steam locomotive no. 58654 and travels northbound along the Kagoshima Main Line, making stops only at Kumamoto (starting station), Kurume Station, Tosu (Tosu) Station, and Hakata Station (terminal). The train operates on November 1st, 3rd, 15th, 21st, and 23rd. All seats are “reserved seating” (advance booking required), but unfortunately, tickets sold out instantly when they went on sale a month ago.

According to reports, when the 〈SL Demon Slayer〉 arrived at Kumamoto Station platform just after 8 a.m. on November 1st, over 700 fans were already waiting to take photos of the train. Even at the intermediate stations Kurume and Tosu, around 600 fans reportedly gathered, while as many as 1,500 fans crowded the Hakata Station platform, waiting eagerly for the train’s arrival.
