Located at Yamashita Pier in Yokohama, Japan, the Gundam Factory Yokohama (Yokohama Gundam Factory) was originally scheduled to open on October 1. However, due to the pandemic, the opening date had to be postponed. Last week, footage of the Gundam undergoing tests in the hangar (related report) was captured and uploaded to social media, causing a stir. Yesterday, Gundam fans received more good news as Gundam Factory Yokohama announced that it will officially open at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 19.

The Gundam Factory Yokohama site is divided into two parts. The Gundam Lab exhibition area showcases the assembly process of the full-scale movable Gundam and also features an AR (augmented reality) experience, allowing visitors to view the Yokohama Port scenery through the Gundam's cockpit. The other part is the Gundam-Dock Tower hangar. Visitors can access observation decks on the 5F (around the Gundam’s waist, approximately 15 meters above ground) and 6F (around the Gundam’s head, approximately 18 meters above ground) to closely observe the mechanical details of the 18-meter-tall, 25-metric-ton life-sized movable Gundam.
