On Sunday (the 5th), most areas across Taiwan, as well as Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu, will see mostly cloudy skies, with only localized brief showers in the eastern half of the island and mountainous areas in the western half. From the afternoon through to the next day, as a rain-bearing cloud system from southern China moves eastward, areas north of central Taiwan and the northeastern region will see scattered showers or thunderstorms, with a chance of localized heavy rain. Other regions, as well as Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu, may also experience localized brief showers or thunderstorms.

On Monday, also under the influence of the northeastern monsoon, the northern and northeastern parts will be cooler. As the rain-bearing cloud system from southern China moves east, northern and eastern parts of Taiwan will have rain. Areas north of Tainan, the eastern part of the island (including Green Island and Orchid Island), coastal and open areas of the Hengchun Peninsula, as well as Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu, are prone to strong gusts of wind at force 8 to 9, so extra caution is advised.

Essentially, the weather pattern will remain similar through to Tuesday (the 7th). Rainfall is expected to ease on the 8th and 9th, but there will still be some rain.

Starting on the 10th, the northeastern monsoon will weaken significantly, and daytime temperatures will rise. On the 10th and 11th, there will be localized brief showers in the eastern part of the island and mountainous areas in the north, while other areas will be mostly cloudy to sunny. With spring arriving, the weather can change rapidly—stay vigilant against catching a chill and make sure to carry rain gear.
