I’m a mom who loves traveling with my kids or exploring new places. When you see an intro like this, some moms might groan about how troublesome it is to pack and travel, but don’t be afraid of the hassle—you’ll find that your kids always grow up a little after each trip, and you might even suddenly discover some new strengths in your husband (laughs).

Before our couple’s meeting even started, I’d already decided on my own to go to Tainan. After all, it had been nearly ten years since my last food-filled trip there—so many nostalgic flavors, plus plenty of new attractions to explore. Of course, when traveling domestically, I stick to one principle: ‘relaxed fun.’ The itinerary doesn’t need to be packed or rushed—just like living somewhere else and breathing different air. I suggest making a list of sights and foods you want to see and try, preparing a few secondary activities, and not being too greedy with spots that involve long round-trip drives, because Tainan is actually much bigger than I imagined.

First stop: Chimei Museum

Aside from temporary exhibitions, the permanent exhibits at Chimei Museum are nothing short of impressive. The Animal Hall is highly recommended—the kids, Xia’ai and Xinxin, gasped at every animal they saw. Each creature, while not moving, was incredibly lifelike. Since we have a little fan of *The Lion King* at home, we spent about ten minutes just in the lion section alone. Other animals like bears and elephants also feature different species, giving the kids a chance to learn more. Dad, on the other hand, loved the Armory Hall, which showcases weapons and craftsmanship techniques from various continents and regions, along with historical records. That section was the only one where we reached the exit faster than Dad did.

We happened to spot a huge Christmas tree at the entrance for a family photo—the kids’ grumpy faces? Let’s just skip those.

There are plenty of great photo spots on the way from the parking lot to the museum. Verdict? Mom takes better photos than Dad.
