Originating from Kyushu, “Hakata Ichiran” is highly acclaimed for its broth and noodles, with some even calling it the best ramen in Japan. It currently has nearly 60 branches across Japan, as well as overseas locations in New York and Singapore, with plans to open more in South Korea in the future to let even more people enjoy the taste of Hakata ramen.

The limited-edition “Akamaru Shinmai” flavor at Ichiran Hakata Station costs 800 yen per bowl.

The founder of Ichiran, Kazuo Kawahara, is from Kyushu and is widely regarded as a renowned ramen expert in Japan. He opened the first Ichiran in 1985, and the shop won the TV Champion award for three consecutive years. Its exclusive flavors—“Akamaru,” “Shiramaru,” and “Ichiran Karakuchi”—each have their own dedicated fans. Paired with thinner noodles, whether you prefer rich, light, or spicy flavors, it’s a taste you won’t forget.

Each “Hakata Ichiran” location usually requires queuing during meal times, but the wait isn’t too long.

Ichiran also sells chili sauce and tea bags.

The Ichiran Hakata Station branch is located on the 10th floor of the newly completed Hakata Station Building. Queues are common during meal times, but the staff maintain Ichiran’s signature energetic and friendly service. Next to the entrance, chili sauce and the shop’s iced tea bags are sold. Inside, the small space features 38 seats, all with ample room under the chairs for bags, ensuring a comfortable dining experience without feeling cramped.
