One more spot for IG check-ins and stunning photoshoots added to your list — Anong Stream, which flows through Sanyi in Yilan, has become a popular destination for rafting adventures in recent years. With its exciting rapids, high safety standards, and breathtaking scenery along the way, it’s a perfect choice for travelers looking to unwind.

Anong Stream is the outflow from the Lanyang Power Plant, originally used to irrigate farmlands in Sanyi. It was formerly called the Electric Fire Stream and splits near Dazhou. Through the guidance of river weirs, it separately irrigates farmlands in Luodong, Sanyi, and Wujie, which is why it was renamed to its current name, Anong Stream.

The diversion weir scenic area is also known as the "Spring Water Park." Covering an area of two hectares, it is home to many species of birds and rare plants, offering both scenic beauty and opportunities for natural ecological research.

The Anong Stream cycling trail stretches 8 kilometers and offers the best views of the pastoral landscape. Visiting Bali Sha in June or July coincides with the pear harvest season. This section of the trail runs alongside the rafting route of Anong Stream, situated on the embankment by the stream. Its endpoint — the diversion weir — is known as the homeland of egrets.

The full length of Anong Stream is about 20 kilometers. For those wanting to try rafting, you can start from Xiashu Bridge in Tianshan Village and end at Zhanggongwei Water-friendly Park. The entire trip takes about two hours. The river channel varies between narrow and wide, with fast and thrilling currents, while the surrounding fields and green landscapes offer pleasant scenery — even on rainy days.
