The renowned “Battle of Guningtou” occurred on October 25, 1949, a battle that preserved Taiwan’s democracy; on October 22, 2049, another “Battle of the Two Chinas” will take place in Kinmen. If you see “soldiers” dressed in the uniforms of both sides engaging in an attack and defense battle at Guningtou Triangular Fort that day, don’t worry—this battle is fought for peace.

After the ROC military retreated to Taiwan, Kinmen shouldered the critical mission of defending the island. Today, as Kinmen gradually sheds its wartime image and turns toward tourism development, the “Cross-Strait Peace Action” will be held at Kinmen’s Triangular Fort on October 21 and 22. On the 21st, survival game players from Taiwan, mainland China, Hong Kong, and Singapore will first gather in Kinmen, followed by a night march along the Guningtou coastline in the evening. The highlight of the event will be on the 22nd, where from 8:30 to 17:20, the “Cross-Strait Peace Action War” will take place, featuring 100 players simulating the ROC military and 300 players simulating the Communist military in three attack and defense battles. The public can climb up to the Triangular Fort to witness the battle between the Two Chinas as it unfolded 62 years ago.

Each player will wear standardized gear including military uniforms, helmets, and bulletproof vests. Landmines, tanks, and other props will also be set up outside the fort. Participants will even receive a day’s military pay, adding to the realism. In addition to recreating the landing and counter-landing battles of the Guningtou Campaign, from October 10 to October 23, visitors to the Triangular Fort can also experience free BB gun shooting. Currently, over ten machine guns have been set up inside and outside the fort, with four sessions open daily (10:00, 11:00, 14:00, 16:00), each lasting half an hour. Trained staff will guide visitors in free shooting experiences, firing at humanoid targets outside the fort.
