The centennial commemorative events would not be complete without the internationally renowned “Alishan”! From November 12 to December 28, the Chiayi Forest District Office launched the “Sleepless Winter Moon: Images of Alishan” event, reviving the century-old mountain forest scenes of Alishan through the screening of documentaries, allowing the public to experience the diverse charm of Alishan.

This event features three documentaries related to Taiwan’s mountain forests and the forestry history of Alishan, including “Roaming the Mountain Forests – Kokichi Kono” on November 19, “Alishan Storm” on December 24, and “A Century of Forestry in Alishan” on December 28. These films respectively depict the valuable historical accounts of Kokichi Kono, a Japanese-era scholar who made significant contributions to Taiwan’s mountain forests, as well as the legends passed down by the Tsou people of Alishan and Wu Feng, an envoy during the Qing Dynasty. Each screening session will invite multiple experts to provide commentary and share with the audience the century-long development history of Alishan and interesting anecdotes from the wilderness.

On Christmas Day, December 25, from 9:00 to 16:00, a lively Ancient Ruins Market has been specially planned, and the afternoon Christmas Party will feature performances by performance groups, including crosstalk, magic, and dance.
