Changes in the pandemic have tightened many people’s nerves and affected their emotions. The upscale wine and dine restaurant “SELF Oasis Oasis” has launched a new series of “mood-lifting” dishes, blending Southeast Asian spices, Taiwanese ingredients, and French cooking techniques to create a “new” Southeast Asian cuisine. It offers a taste of a laid-back tropical vacation, along with an “emotion” cocktail series that combines beverages from various regions with authentic Taiwanese ingredients to convey the warmth of the land and help release emotions.

Led by a Golden Horse Awards newcomer-nominated director, an immersive five-sensory experience crafts a relaxing dining space.

SELF Oasis founder Xu Jia-kai wears multiple hats as an entrepreneur, director, and restaurateur. In 2019, he was nominated for Best New Director at the Golden Horse Awards for the film “The Great Buddha+.” The SELF Space series creates a relaxing dining space through an immersive five-sensory experience. Its brands include SELF Private Room, SELF Oasis Oasis, and FU MilkTea Fu Milk Tea.

A fusion of Southeast Asian style and jazz music creates an urban corner for a cozy afternoon buzz.

SELF Oasis Oasis crafts a sunny nook for enjoying a relaxed afternoon buzz. The décor is based on a green color scheme, accented by lush green plants all around, combining the scenery of Southeast Asian greenery with soulful jazz music. Sip on a professionally crafted refreshing drink, like a tranquil oasis in the city. The shop also features props and scenes from well-known films such as “The Great Buddha+” and “Mr. Bartender.”

The “emotion” cocktails are inspired by various “emotions,” blending natural fruits, premium teas, and other ingredients to create richly layered flavors. These are then visualized through different effects to represent emotion molecules, offering an “immersive” experience through taste, smell, and sight. Options include emotions such as longing, low spirits, hope, confusion, and exhaustion.

Among the popular choices is one based on Taiwanese tea, sweetened with peach, rose fragrance, and velvety milk foam, with a rim rolled in tiny floral sprinkles, offering a “Happiness” that blooms like a garden of flowers; as well as “Hard to Explain,” which combines lady grey tea, apple cider, and smoked cinnamon to create a unique aroma and subtly complex flavor.
