The 2012 Taipei Confucius Temple Spring Ceremony will take place at 8:00 a.m. on February 26 at Taipei Confucius Temple. Starting today (February 17) until February 23 (closed on Mondays), the public can collect “participation certificates” free of charge. Limited in quantity, so don’t miss out.

The five key elements of the “Spring Ceremony”—rituals, music, ceremonial dancers, songs, and offerings—are innovated and refined every year. (Photo provided by Taipei Confucius Temple Management Committee)

This year’s Spring Ceremony focuses on “Praying for Academic Success,” encouraging students to study diligently and incorporating student talent performances to create a unique and refined ceremony distinctive to Taipei Confucius Temple, while also reinterpreting Confucian sacrificial culture. Taipei Confucius Temple noted that the participation certificate, designed with a main visual theme of “spring and praying for academic success,” is exquisite and beautiful, making it a meaningful keepsake. The public can collect their certificates in person at the Taipei Confucius Temple Management Committee Office, located at No. 275, Dalong Street, Datong District, Taipei (275 Dalong St., Datong Dist., Taipei). Schools, government agencies, and organizations can request group participation certificates by letter during the distribution period. For those who cannot obtain one in advance, the organizers will also distribute 100 on-site participation certificates to people queuing up at the entrance gate (Hóngménkǒu) from 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. on the day of the ceremony, February 26, until supplies run out.

Taipei Confucius Temple also reminds participants that, in order to maintain the solemnity and dignity of the “Spring Ceremony,” children under 10 years old are not allowed to enter. All attendees are asked to dress appropriately, and smoking and eating are prohibited inside the venue. Entry will be temporarily suspended once the ceremony begins, so the public is advised to arrive early.
