This year’s Ocean Independent Music Awards feature three categories: the top prize “Ocean Grand Award” with a cash prize of NT$200,000, the “Jury Grand Prize” worth NT$50,000, and the “Ocean Star” award. Over the years, bands that have honed their skills on the Ocean Stage, such as Chen Qizhen, Clapper, Tizzy Bac, Won Fu, Sodagreen, Totem, Deserts Chang, POPO J, Luka Bloom, and Matzka, have each carved out their own niche in the Chinese music scene with diverse musical styles. Last year’s Ocean Grand Award winner, SE Band, will even perform at the Beijing Midi Festival in May this year, bringing the passion and rock charm of the Marine Music Festival across the strait to represent Taiwan with pride!
In addition, during the Marine Music Festival each year, the Heatwave Small Stage performances also provide independent bands with a platform to showcase themselves, serving as a great opportunity for networking and mutual learning. Applications for performance slots are now being accepted, with the deadline set for June 4. The relevant application guidelines can be downloaded from the website 0rz.tw/JhvtI.
