On March 23, the Central Epidemic Command Center reported 26 new confirmed cases, including 4 cases from a family cluster infection, cases 172 and 173 being a couple who returned from France — also classified as a family cluster — along with infections among colleagues and family members.

The current focus of epidemic prevention is on two lines of defense: one at the airport screening and the other through home quarantine. There is a serious appeal for those under home quarantine to maintain distance from family members and avoid unnecessary outings.

Home quarantine compliance is also being monitored through increased police patrols across regions. Recently, a quarantined individual was caught during a random check leaving their home to visit a nightclub and was immediately fined NT$1 million.

On Sunday, March 22, there were over 4,000 inbound arrivals; by noon on March 23, over 1,600 had arrived, with an estimated total of around 3,600 expected for the whole day. Additionally, there has been a particular emphasis on luggage disinfection and handling.

Minister Chen Shih-chung, the commander of the CECC, also urged those entering Taiwan who have a fever not to avoid reporting it just because they’ve taken fever-reducing medication themselves — failure to report is considered a serious offense. He also called on the public not to hoard supplies, reiterating that “there will definitely be enough,” and clarified that the public should not be influenced by misinformation.
