As Mid-Autumn Festival approaches, the aroma of barbecue fills the streets across Taiwan. But besides barbecuing, the “Moon over Bitan” Mid-Autumn celebration in Xindian District will kick off on October 7th at Bitan East Bank Plaza. The event will feature free mooncakes and locally produced tea from long-established bakeries in Xindian, as well as fun Mid-Autumn-themed competitions. Community moms from various neighborhoods in Xindian will be on-site to teach DIY activities, and participants in the challenge games can enter a lucky draw. In the evening, a grand display of thousands of fireworks will light up the sky, along with live performances by Golden Melody Award-winning artist Show Lo and girl group Dream Girls.

This year’s event is set to begin at 2:00 PM, featuring a pomelo-moving contest and a mooncake-eating relay race. Starting at 5:30 PM, the event will distribute one thousand mooncakes made by the renowned Xindian bakery “Jinchenglan Cake Shop” and local tea. The evening show will feature popular singers such as Mandopop queen Huang Fei, Super Star Avenue winner Lala Hsu, and Lin Fan, who sang the theme song for the hit series “The Fierce Wife,” gathering with the public for a relaxing weekend evening by Bitan.

The highlight of the evening, the massive fireworks show, is the largest display since the Bitan Fireworks Festival. Lasting 25 minutes non-stop, the spectacular fireworks blend with Bitan’s mountain-water scenery and feature unique water-based pyrotechnics, lighting up the night sky over Bitan.

Additionally, the much-anticipated lucky draw allows participants who successfully complete the on-site challenge games in the afternoon or collect stamps by visiting nearby Bitan attractions such as old streets, ferry terminals, and literary trails using a stamp card to exchange for lottery tickets. Prizes total over NT$200,000.
