For travelers looking to visit Kaohsiung while saving money, Taiwan High Speed Rail, after its "Taiwan Tourist Shuttle" program, has partnered with Kaohsiung MRT for the first time to launch the "High-Speed Rail & MRT Combo Ticket" on December 19. The package includes a high-speed rail ticket and a Kaohsiung MRT pass. For example, purchasing the "Zuoying–Taipei" combo ticket costs just NT$2,860 per person, saving NT$750, equivalent to a 7.9% discount. The "Zuoying–Tainan" fare offers an even greater 7.7% discount. The included Kaohsiung MRT EasyCard can be used for unlimited rides on the MRT, buses, and ferries for two days, allowing easy access to Kaohsiung’s famous attractions.

From 12:00 noon on December 19 until June 29, 2013, the public can pre-order the High-Speed Rail & MRT Combo Ticket for travel from December 20 to June 30 of the following year via 7-ELEVEN ibon convenience stations. Each combo ticket package includes a round-trip standard-class reserved seat ticket for the high-speed rail and a Kaohsiung MRT pass set, which contains one MRT travel card. This card allows unlimited rides on the MRT, buses, and ferries for two days, and also includes a Love River solar-powered boat ticket, a three-hour bicycle rental voucher, and a Dream Mall Ferris wheel ride ticket.
The combo ticket allows reservations for MRT passes up to one month in advance before 5:00 PM daily, and for up to one month in advance from the day after the next after 5:00 PM. The MRT pass is valid for use within three days from the selected redemption date, while the high-speed rail ticket is valid for use within four days before the day the MRT pass is activated.
In addition, from January 3 to April 30, 2013 (excluding peak travel periods), Taiwan High Speed Rail continues to offer a discount program for college and university students. During this period, students riding designated off-peak high-speed rail standard-class reserved seats can enjoy a 50% or 70% discount. Pre-orders are now open.
