This year’s Taipei New Year’s Eve theme is “Taipei: Advancing Towards a World Design Capital.” In line with the four-day holiday, the city government has specially organized the “Explore Taipei: Travel & Stamp” stamp-collecting event. Citizens can follow the passport’s recommended spots to explore Taipei’s streets and alleys, experiencing the city’s unique charm. The highlight of the celebration, the New Year’s Eve gala at Civic Plaza in front of Taipei City Hall, will feature performances by mega-stars like Aaron Kwok and A-Mei, delivering a concert-scale show akin to Taipei Arena, along with a French-style romantic fireworks display at Taipei 101.

The “Explore Taipei: Travel & Stamp” passport will be printed in 10,000 copies. Citizens can collect one from December 17 to December 30 at five of Taipei’s Tourism Service Centers, located at Taipei Main Station, Eastern District Underground Street Station, Taipei City Hall Transfer Station, Beitou MRT Station, and Ximen MRT Station. By visiting design-themed attractions in Ximending, Xinyi District, Beitou District, Zhongshan District, and Dongmen Station and collecting stamps, participants who collect any five stamps can exchange them for the first-prize winning design “Rainbow Pen” from the “Taipei Keeps You Company on Your Journey” design competition at the service desk in Civic Plaza from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM on December 30 (1,000 pens available) and December 31 (1,150 pens available). This stylish rainbow pen, inspired by the design of Taipei 101, features vibrant colors that highlight memorable travels in Taipei. Quantities are limited and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
