The Alishan Sunrise Impression Concert is about to enter its 12th year, leaving touching and unforgettable memories in the hearts of thousands every New Year's Day. This year, the organizer, Chiayi Forest District Office under the Forestry Bureau, has invited producer Yu Chuanxian to create a signature song for the concert, performed by renowned artist Gao Huijun, a girl who grew up in the Tsou tribe of Alishan. With her soaring, clear voice, she will bring boundless emotion to all visitors.

The Chiayi Forest District Office noted that from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM on December 31, the “Alishan Night” event will be held at Alishan Railway Station. In addition to traditional dances by the Tsou tribe of Alishan and a passionate performance by Orion’s Mo & Du, the event will also feature the reunion of the talented vocal duo “Sailing Duo” – Jing Wen and Qinqin – to accompany everyone through the evening. On New Year’s Day, anti-cancer musician Tang Danxiang will lead the Taichung Philharmonic Orchestra, joined by Little Fatty Lin Yuqun – whose voice has been praised by CNN as reminiscent of Whitney Houston’s live performance at the 1993 Grammy Awards – to perform classic songs such as “Amazing Grace” on the Dui Gaoyue Observation Deck amidst the Alishan mountain ranges. The goal is to offer visitors an extraordinary send-off to the old year and a fresh new start, high up in the mountains at over 2,000 meters above sea level.

Every year since the early hours of New Year’s Day, visitors have flocked to the mountain in hopes of securing the best spots to watch the first light of dawn. This year, the Alishan Forest Railway’s Zhushan Branch Line will begin operating from 2:00 AM, with trains departing every 10–15 minutes and a total of 16 scheduled services to accommodate the influx of visitors. At 3:00 AM on New Year’s Day, a “Starlight Cinema” will be set up at Dui Gaoyue Square, screening the film “Starry Starry Night,” directed by Lin Shuyu and shot at locations including Alishan National Forest Recreation Area. This will allow early arrivals to enjoy the movie under Alishan’s beautiful mountain starry sky. With the continuous holiday period bringing large crowds and heavy traffic, the Chiayi Forest District Office has specially arranged free shuttle buses starting at 4:00 AM from kilometer markers 83 to 95 along Provincial Highway 18 outside the park. Ten temporary bus stops will be set up to serve visitors. Visitors are also reminded that temperatures on the mountain can drop to around zero degrees Celsius, so they should arrange accommodations, meals, and warm clothing in advance.
