This concert is divided into two major themes. In Theme One, “When Classical Meets Starlight,” the first half will feature the Hsinchu Municipal Philharmonic Orchestra, performing familiar Viennese concert favorites by Johann Strauss II with a 40-piece ensemble. These include the light opera "Die Fledermaus," "Voices of Spring Waltz," "Artist's Life," "Emperor Waltz," and "The Blue Danube." The renowned Russian violinist Rotschko has also been specially invited to collaborate on the first movement of Beethoven’s Violin Concerto No. 1. The second half will invite singer-songwriters Tong En and Wu Nanying along with their band, bringing lively pop music to welcome the new year 2013.

Theme Two, “A Surprise from America,” will feature performances by the Hsinchu Symphony Wind Orchestra together with conductor Kenneth Singleton of the North Colorado Symphony Orchestra (USA), presenting classic wind ensemble pieces including "Hands Across the Sea," "The Lark in the Clear Air," "Homage: Three Tapestries," and "Midway March." American-based pianist Huang Jiahua has also been invited to perform as a soloist, playing Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto No. 2.

Tickets for both concerts are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Starting December 25 at 9:00 AM, they can be picked up for free at the first-floor service counter of the Performance Hall, with a limit of two tickets per person per concert. Any unclaimed seats will be opened to walk-ins without tickets ten minutes before the show begins.
