The theme of the Hsinchu City 2013 New Year’s Eve concert is “Wisdom. Happy Living. Welcoming the Year of the Snake.” Featuring golden hits and combining local traditional cultural elements of Hsinchu, the event serves as a warm-up for the 2013 Taiwan Lantern Festival. Hosted by Xiao Xia and Zhong Xinyi, the concert will also star youth idol Rainie Yang, rock band Circus, Taiwan Pavilion spokesperson Zhu Lijing, internet sensation Guo Shuyao, along with idol singers Song Nianyu, Chen Shian, Bii, Li Peiwei, and Li Jia Wei. A spectacular fireworks show will also be staged to ring in the new year in high spirits.

In addition, this year’s New Year event has planned a lottery, and members of the public can exchange their receipts for raffle tickets starting now at service desks at the City Hall, Cultural Affairs Bureau, Tax Bureau, the three district offices, the Image Museum, the Performance Hall, and the certified goods area of the Glass Museum. Each receipt can be exchanged for one raffle ticket, with a maximum of 10 tickets per person. The draw will take place on the night of the event, with prizes including one 150cc and one 125cc motorcycle, smartphones, and the grand prize of a car. All receipts collected through this exchange will be donated in full to the Genesis Social Welfare Foundation and the Ai Heng Enlightenment Center.
