Looking to set sail and embark on a luxurious sea journey? Beyond cruise ships, there’s a new option. In mid-December 2012, the Alila hotel group launched the “Alila Purnama,” a luxury sailboat named after the full moon, handcrafted entirely in the traditional Phinisi style used by Bugis sailors from South Sulawesi, Indonesia. Measuring 46 meters in length, the vessel features three decks and emphasizes both contemporary style and sustainability—all furnishings are handcrafted from teak, rattan, or local Indonesian materials. The boat has just five double cabins, each offering expansive ocean views. It also includes a PADI-certified diving center and a private spa therapist, ensuring diverse experiences whether you’re exploring underwater or relaxing onboard.

The Alila Purnama’s maiden voyage begins in Indonesia’s Raja Ampat archipelago, home to world-class national parks and countless hidden dive spots. Marine scientists believe that 70% of the world’s coral species originate here. The seven-day, six-night itinerary allows guests to fully explore the underwater world. The itinerary is available until March 2013, after which the boat will sail to the Komodo archipelago from April to October, embarking on another magical maritime journey.
