One of the most talked-about films in Taiwan at the end of 2012 was undoubtedly *Life of Pi*, directed by Ang Lee. The movie not only achieved impressive global box office results but also emerged as a dark horse, winning Oscars for Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Visual Effects, and Best Original Score. Some hotel operators have capitalized on this trend by promoting film locations and nearby accommodations, allowing travelers to embark on a fantastical scenic vacation following the growth journey of the film’s protagonist.

Pondicherry, located in southern India, is the hometown of Pi in the film. Once a French colony, it boasts a uniquely romantic French ambiance. The area preserves many elegant French-style buildings while also blending distinct traditional Indian features, creating a stunning fusion of cultural styles. Online booking platform Hotels.com recommends that visitors stay at Le Dupleix Hotel, which is close to the beach and near the Pondicherry Lighthouse, the Pondicherry Museum, and the - district.

Under the influence of history and culture, India exudes a unique and captivating charm. Munnar, nestled in the Western Ghats of South India, was a summer retreat during the British colonial era and also the vacation spot of Pi’s family in the film. Visitors can admire the lush green tea and spice plantations in Munnar, enjoy the fresh and cool mountain air, and personally experience how Pi gained new insights into religion in the churches here. Those interested in visiting can stay at Eastend Munnar Hotel, located in the bustling area of Munnar, near the Mount Carmel Church, Carmal Church, and St. Thomas Mount.

In the film, Pi eventually drifts to a pristine white sandy beach, only to watch helplessly as the tiger disappears into the coastal forest without looking back. This beautiful beach, deeply etched in the minds of audiences, is none other than Kenting’s famous Shell Beach – Bai Sha Wan (White Sand Bay). It is recommended to stay at Farglory Resort Kenting. This spring, Taiwan’s largest outdoor music event, the “2013 Spring Scream Music Festival” in Kenting, will take place during the Qingming Festival holiday from April 5th to 6th, featuring two consecutive days of four concerts at Hengchun Airport. Kenting is expected to attract a large influx of tourists, so those interested are advised to start planning their trips early.
