As summer draws to a close and the weather gradually turns cooler, it’s the perfect time for a hot spring soak！ The “2017 Taipei Hot Spring Festival” will take place from October 19 to 23. Various hot spring businesses are offering great deals, including buy one get one free on hot spring vouchers, 15% discounts, and complimentary small gifts, allowing hot spring enthusiasts to save some money. In addition, the festival features a children’s mikoshi (portable shrine), a wishing ema (wooden prayer plaque) area, and a variety of delicious snacks, all showcasing the vibrant charm of Beitou.

This year’s hot spring festival is themed “Splashing for Blessings — A Cultural Celebration.” The event includes diverse booths, stage performances, local culture, a charity yukata (casual kimono) experience, a splashing parade, as well as an open-air movie screening, hula dance performances, and Ming Hua Yuan Taiwanese opera, making for a lively atmosphere. Additionally, there will be guided tours of Beitou culture and free shuttle buses to popular attractions, making it more convenient for visitors to explore the area.

Ahead of the Taipei International Travel Fair, several hot spring hotels in Beitou are also joining the festival with special offers: The Spring Hotel is offering discounted hot spring entry for NT$488 with a festival brochure, Shuimei Hot Spring Club is offering lunch plus access to the public hot spring for NT$928 per person, and Quan Du Hot Spring Club is offering 35% off weekday stays. Hotels such as the Kagaya International Resort, Beitou Lisi Hotel, and Lian Ren Inn are providing welcome gifts and discounts for guests wearing yukata. Visitors can take advantage of the end of summer to book early for warm hot spring soaks this autumn and winter.
