Day 1: Breakfast at Wenkang Street → Ferry from Chimei Pier to Jibei Islet → Kuibi Mountain → Water Activities along the South Loop Coast → Fenggui Cave → Snake Head Mountain → Zhongzheng Road in Magong City → Watch Sea Fireworks at Guanyin Pavilion

Must-Try Food: Breakfast at Wenkang Street

In the 1980s, the Penghu County government planned several themed streets in downtown Magong, and Wenkang Street’s breakfast street was one of them. Although it’s called a breakfast street, the offerings are similar to typical lunch and dinner fare.

The Wenkang Street breakfast area generally refers to the stretch from Wenkang Street to Minsheng Road. It includes “Yifeng Soy Milk Shop,” famous for its soy milk, egg pancakes, fried dough sticks, and sesame pancakes; “Erxin Rice Balls” located outside the Erxin Minsheng Branch at the intersection of Minsheng Road and Chongqing Street; “Xiangting Fish Soup,” known for its sweet broth; and the always-crowded “Beixinqiao Beef Offal Soup,” among others. Note that these shops only operate for breakfast, usually closing between 12:00 and 1:00 PM, or even earlier around 8:30 AM if business is brisk.

Must-Visit Attraction: Jibei Islet

One of the most unforgettable sights on Jibei Islet is its golden shell sand, stretching for several kilometers. At the end of the beach, due to the effects of sea currents, an 800-meter-long and 200-meter-wide sand spit extends into the sea—a unique sight in all of Taiwan. The waters around Jibei Islet feature 88 large and small stone weirs. The beach, the sand spit, and the stone weirs are the island’s most distinctive natural and man-made landscapes. Meanwhile, the Jibei Islet Water Activity Area at Xibishan offers exciting activities such as banana boat rides, jet skis, parasailing, and snorkeling.

Must-Experience Activity: Watching Sea Fireworks at Guanyin Pavilion

The Penghu Sea Fireworks Festival, an annual event that attracts numerous domestic and international visitors to Penghu, centers this year around the theme of “The Most Beautiful Bay, The Most Spectacular Fireworks.” From now until June 24th, fireworks will be launched every Monday and Thursday evening from 9:00 to 9:15 PM at the Guanyin Pavilion area, along with performances by group artists, making the summer nights on the Jade Island exceptionally lively.

Day 2: Zhongtun Wind Power Plant → Penghu Aquarium → Tongliang Banyan Tree → Cross-Sea Bridge → Zhulwan Crab Museum → Erjie Historic Preservation Area → Dayeyeh Basalt → Niuxin Mountain → Xiyu East Fort → Xiyu West Fort → Xiyu Lighthouse → Whale Cave → Night Squid Fishing

Must-Visit Attraction: Cross-Sea Bridge

The Cross-Sea Bridge connects Baisha Township and Xiyu Township. The old bridge was constructed in 1965 and took five years to complete, spanning 2,478 meters across the turbulent and treacherous “Houmen Channel,” making it the longest deep-sea bridge in the Far East at the time. Due to severe erosion, the old bridge has been replaced by a new two-lane bridge completed in 1996. The bridge is often dotted with anglers braving strong winds and scorching sun to fish, and taking an evening stroll here to watch the sunset offers a unique experience.

You can’t say you’ve been to Penghu if you haven’t visited the Cross-Sea Bridge. (Image provided by MOOK Editorial Department)
