The 2013 Yilan International Children's Folk Games & Arts Festival will grandly begin on July 6. To allow more audiences to enjoy the spectacular performances of foreign folk dance troupes, Yilan County has specially organized the “Children’s Games 18. Dance Stirring Up Youth – 2013 Yilan International Children's Folk Games & Arts Festival Series Performances,” which will be held every Friday from July 19 to August 16 (7/19, 7/26, 8/2, 8/9, 8/16) at 7:30 PM, for a total of 5 shows.

This series of performances is a highlight of the Yilan Performing Arts Center’s summer schedule over the years. This year, approximately 10 foreign folk music and dance troupes from Europe, Asia, the Americas, and Africa will be invited to present a United Nations-like spectacular dance show. Backed by the lighting and sound of a professional indoor theater, the performance style will differ from the joyful atmosphere of the outdoor performances in the festival park, offering a refreshing visual experience.

Tickets for the “Dancing. Children. Play” series will be sold via the National Theater Concert Hall ticketing system, with a single-show ticket priced at NT$150. To give back to the residents of Yilan, 100 special ticket sets (1 set includes 10 tickets for a total of NT$1,000, valid for any show) have been printed. Yilan residents can present an ID document to purchase these at the performing arts center, with a limit of one set per ID. To fight rising costs together with the public, any visitor holding a ticket stub from the “2013 Yilan International Children's Folk Games & Arts Festival” can purchase a single-ticket voucher for NT$100 at the performing arts center (exchange one ticket stub for one voucher); audiences holding a stub from the “Children’s Games 18” performance can also exchange one ticket stub for one festival park voucher.

This year marks the 18th anniversary of the Children's Games Festival. The “Children’s Games 18” series of performances has specially planned two interesting free ticket collection schemes. The “18 Please Enter” scheme is for youths born between 1995 and 1997 (Republic of China years 84 to 86), who can collect one single-show performance ticket by presenting their ID card. The “18 Send-Off” scheme benefits those passionate about cultural and artistic activities. Anyone holding 3 old ticket stubs from Children’s Games Festival events before 2012, or 5 old ticket stubs from any 2013 Yilan Performing Arts Center performances (excluding vouchers from this event) can collect one single-show performance ticket. Both schemes are available for free ticket collection at the performing arts center starting one Tuesday before each show’s opening week, with limited quantities available and all given out once supplies run out.
