Everyone says the Yangmingshan area is Taipei’s backyard garden, but how can you explore this garden in a way that’s exciting, enriching, and relaxing? Taiwan’s well-traveled Taiwan Tourist Shuttle has just added the “Beitou Zhuzihu Line.” The route goes through Beitou Park, Grass Mountain Chateau, Yangmingshuwu, and other sites. Renowned writer Liu Ke-xiang has also recorded audio guides for the attractions along this line, allowing visitors to easily take the bus to experience Taipei’s most beautiful bus route, roam through Liu Ke-xiang’s twelve exclusive spots, and enjoy a one-of-a-kind journey through Beitou and Yangmingshan.

The Beitou Hot Spring area has always been a top holiday destination for tourists, and Yangmingshan is also a great place for family outings. The Taipei City Government has transformed the existing shuttle bus No. Take bus 9, which runs between Beitou and Zhuzihu, into the Taiwan Tourist Shuttle’s “Beitou Zhuzihu Line.” From the foothills of Beitou to the mountainous areas of Yangmingshan and Zhuzihu, the route passes by popular attractions such as Beitou Park, Sulfur Valley, Yangmingshan Park, Grass Mountain Chateau, and Yangmingshuwu. It offers a rich variety of sightseeing features, including cultural history and natural ecology. Whether it’s the nostalgic atmosphere of the Beitou Hot Spring Museum, the ever-changing beauty of Yangmingshan across the four seasons, or the romantic calla lily paths of Zhuzihu in spring, all are easily accessible.

The “Beitou Zhuzihu Line” is designed around three themes: “hot springs,” “nature,” and “travel.” In addition to different interior design themes inside the buses, the three buses also play unique theme music. Furthermore, carefully selected sounds of common and representative Yangmingshan wildlife—such as the Taipei tree frog, Taiwan blue magpie, Yangmingshan evening cicada, Formosan blue magpie, and Taiwan yuhina—are combined with children’s voiceovers to create special bus stop chimes, accompanying travelers on their outings.

Yangmingshan Park covers an area of 40 hectares and features Chinese garden-style architecture, exuding an elegant ambiance. It is a top choice for many people for hiking and flower viewing, and the Flower Clock Plaza is one of the park’s landmarks. (Image provided by Moleskine Editorial Department)

Renowned writer Liu Ke-xiang said, “The ‘Beitou Zhuzihu Line’ is the most beautiful bus route in all of Taipei. It passes through well-known attractions and hiking trails such as Beitou Park, Sulfur Valley, Shiba Fen, and Grass Mountain Chateau, making it well worth a visit. Taking the ‘Beitou Zhuzihu Line’ is also a smart shortcut to the back of Yangmingshan. In addition, Liu Ke-xiang has recorded exclusive audio guides for the attractions along the route.
