When celebrities open restaurants, they not only share their favorite types and styles of cuisine with the public but also offer more dining options. Hong Kong actress Liu Jialing has opened three innovative restaurants on the 18th floor of The ONE shopping mall in Tsim Sha Tsui, featuring Japanese cuisine, Spanish dishes, and Spanish-style tapas and drinks. Two of the venues specialize in modern Kyoto-style Japanese cuisine and avant-garde Spanish gastronomy, while the third is an energetic bar that features a resident DJ every Friday and Saturday night after 10:30 PM. The launch of this new culinary landmark marks Liu Jialing’s first foray into Hong Kong’s food scene, following her previous ventures running restaurants and nightclubs in Shanghai and Beijing.

Kyoshun

The Japanese restaurant Kyoshun exudes a contemporary minimalist ambiance and serves traditional Kyoto kaiseki cuisine made with seasonal ingredients, offered à la carte. Both indoor and outdoor spaces feature sand garden layouts. The interior is paved with richly colored dark wood flooring and includes an open kitchen where diners can watch Japanese chefs prepare refined Kyoto dishes, such as silky soft tofu with fresh yuba simmered in multiple sauces — with ingredients flown fresh from Japan daily — and sea bream donabe rice cooked in tableware crafted by Kyoto’s renowned Kumoi Gama ceramic kiln. All dishes are grilled using premium Kyoto binchotan charcoal.

Zurriola

The romantic and elegant upscale Spanish restaurant Zurriola features a classic interior adorned with warm wooden finishes, evoking landmarks along Barcelona’s famous La Rambla. Executive Chef Pedro Samper has curated a selection of refined contemporary dishes, including hot and cold small plates, Spanish specialty Bomba rice, pasta, main courses, and desserts, aiming to earn a Michelin star in its early days. Star dishes include: one-minute low-temperature cooked Japanese mackerel with sweet pepper sauce and salad; seared red snapper with Spanish cider, pine nuts, and raisins macerated in wine; and 36-hour slow-cooked lamb neck with seasonal greens.

The restaurant also imports high-quality produce from Spain, such as a wide variety of artisanal cheeses, as well as a broad selection of classic aged Spanish wines, all displayed as guests pass through the dimly lit, three-meter-high wine cellar leading into the dining area.

In addition, the private dining rooms offer stunning panoramic views of Victoria Harbour, with the glittering lights of Hong Kong Island across the water. The rooms can accommodate up to 16 people and feature terraces, allowing guests to enjoy an al fresco dining experience on breezy evenings.

TAPAGRIA

This new urban hotspot also includes the dazzling and glamorous Spanish bar TAPAGRIA. Alongside serving Spanish wines and tapas, the bar transforms into a venue with a resident DJ every Friday and Saturday night after 10:30 PM.

TAPAGRIA creates an intimate atmosphere with soft lighting, and its curvaceous bar counter complements the open kitchen behind it. Paired with uniquely shaped chairs and bar stools, the design draws the eye and pays homage to Catalan legendary architect Gaudí.

TAPAGRIA boasts one of the most extensive selections of Spanish sangria in Hong Kong, blending different fresh fruit flavors with red wine, white wine, rosé, Spanish sparkling wine (Cava), and Spanish pink sparkling wine (Cava Rosé) to create over 65 varieties of sangria. Its outdoor terrace offers a laid-back vibe and luxurious style, making it an ideal spot to sip cocktails while admiring Hong Kong’s captivating cityscape.

Liu Jialing said: “I chose to open Japanese and Spanish restaurants because the cuisines from both places are very fashionable, widely loved, and also my personal favorites. I traveled with chefs to Kyoto and Barcelona to learn about the cooking techniques and gather creative inspiration, all to create interiors brimming with authentic local character for both restaurants.”
